One Health Society for Animals strives to promote the well-being of animals in remote, often Indigenous communities where veterinary services are otherwise difficult or impossible to obtain due to financial limitations, distance to veterinary services, or the inability to transport animals to clinics. Animals and people are intimately connected in communities, and by helping people to care for their animals, we aim to promote the health of both. Veterinary care, outreach, and financial assistance/empowerment are primary goals of One Health Society for Animals, as is promoting trust and positive relationships between veterinarians (and more broadly the medical field) and remote communities. We are a family-based operation and believe that our job starts with observing and listening first and then tailoring our assistance goals to better support the community. By connecting deeply with the communities we work with, we hope to build lasting bonds and relationships. We also work to learn about, teach about, and prevent the spread of disease and domestic animal bite injuries.

Our vision is a world that recognizes that the health of animals, people, and communities is deeply interconnected, and where every animal owner has support.

OHSA was founded by Anaika Dayton, a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine who graduated from University of California, Davis after attaining her undergraduate degree at University of California, Berkeley. Anaika has two children, one cat, and two dogs. She decided to create a Sea to Sky – based mobile veterinary clinic in August of 2024 in the hope of providing veterinary care to rural communities. With the help of her family and community, that dream has evolved into the One Health Society for Animals, a registered Canadian charity.
